The summer is here and you're thinking of throwing a party for your family and friends. Your party will be much more memorable and in many ways successful if you make it a theme party. Take a look at the following ideas for a theme party to inspire you:

1. Cocktail Party – The cocktail party was traditionally the before part of a dinner party, but has evolved to become a party in its own right.

Budget dependant, you could hire a qualified cocktail waiter to mix some fancy cocktails for your guests. Otherwise you could have cocktail stations with menus for your guests to make their own, very fun! The event should be black tie and red or black dress for the ladies.

2. Mexican Party – The Mexican theme party is a chance to dress up in sombreros and dance the night away while drinking Corona, lime and plenty of Tequila. The ladies should wear beautiful Mexican peasant dresses fit for a Fiesta festival. Dance the Samba all night long!

3. Masquerade Party – The Masquerade party originated in 15th century Venice and is now extremely popular throughout the world. The whole idea is to hide your identity with elaborate costumes and masks. You'll be amazed at what you can get away with when nobody knows who you are. Extreme fun!

4. Toga Party – This is a very simple and inexpensive one to throw. If you aint wearin a toga, you aint comin in…And this should be stated on your invitations. Try to create and ancient Greek or Roman setting with pillars, busts etc. You can top off your costumes with sandals and leaf laurels.

5. Superhero – For the Superhero theme party, send out your invitations on coloured paper cut into the shape of the Superman emblem. Cut out letters from the newspaper to make your words. Hire a smoke machine for the entrance and play Spiderman or Batman on a loop.
